About the Film:
The Biggest Little Farm chronicles the eight-year journey of John and Molly Chester as they leave urban life in Los Angeles to establish Apricot Lane Farms in Moorpark, California. Faced with the challenges of transforming 200 acres of barren land into a sustainable, biodiverse farm, the Chesters embark on a mission to work in harmony with nature. Their story is a testament to resilience, environmental stewardship, and the intricate balance of ecosystems. The film has garnered critical acclaim for its breathtaking cinematography and heartfelt narrative, offering viewers a profound look into the possibilities of regenerative agriculture.
Simply Living advocates for sustainable living through awareness and education about intentional choices within consumer culture. The Biggest Little Farm embodies our mission by showcasing the transformative power of sustainable agriculture. The Chesters’ dedication to revitalizing their land into a thriving ecosystem is an inspiring example of that power.
While uprooting one’s life to start a 200-acre farm may not be feasible for most people, the film offers valuable insights into sustainability that can be applied at any scale. After the screening, we’ll host a discussion (we’re still securing panelists—stay tuned) to explore these ideas further. What’s practical for individuals and communities? We’ll explore this and other key themes that emerge from the film.
