Simply Living Board of Directors
Dan’s interest in all things sustainable comes from his concern about climate change and was accelerated by Simply Living’s NWEI class on Voluntary Simplicity He is also a strong supporter of local foods and has been volunteering for the Worthington Farmers Market for many years. Dan’s first steps in becoming more aware of his environmental impact include becoming a vegetarian (often vegan) and bugging his neighbors to get rain barrels and electric mowers. Simply Living’s members are passionate and energetic, and Dan feels fortunate to be able to work with them in supporting Simply Living’s mission.
Simply Living voted upon and warmly welcomed Christine Hardin as our newest member on the Board of Directors at its monthly meeting in August. She’s a longtime resident of northwest Columbus, has a rich history of serving on boards throughout the city, and embraces “hand’s on” volunteerism. We value her pragmatic approach to problem solving, along with her creative brain-storming spirit in collaborative planning and for outreach opportunities.
After graduating from Columbus College of Art & Design with a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and Advertising, Jenny worked for 7 years for a Short North advertising and design agency. In 2012 she started a video and design agency, Amelia Street Studio, with her two sisters. While living in Columbus she has developed a love for the city and welcomes learning new things about it. While producing a video for Simply Living’s 2014 Luncheon, she learned how meaningful and important Simply Living and working towards sustainability is.
Amy joined Simply Living just a couple of years ago after taking a NorthWest Earth Institute course and became a board member soon after. An avid lover of nature she has become increasingly interested in the delicate balance between modern living and our amazing eco systems. Working in restaurants has led her in her desire to know where our food comes from and how it is grown. She is interested in all ways we can build a local, sustainable and healthy food system and looks forward to helping Simply Luvjng further their mission, raise awareness and find solutions to the myriad of problems our society faces as we confront Climate Change.
As a connector for the community, Kerry has a unique talent for bringing people to people, consumers to goods and services, and helpful information to the community. Kerry has spent the majority of her career dedicated to the growth and development of her family’s sign and graphics company, The Redirections Group. Kerry’s passion and strong beliefs in complementary health systems, wellness, and holistic lifestyles lead her to launch the Central Ohio publication of Natural Awakenings magazine in 2013. Board members are elected by Simply Living members at our Annual Meeting in February and can be appointed at other times by the Board. They serve a two-year term, meet monthly and are actively involved in some aspect of program or operations.
Board members are selected by personal invitation and by engaged members stepping forward and offering to serve with the Board’s acceptance of their request. Particular areas of interest and skill desired for board members and/or volunteers include organizational dynamics, membership coordination, communications, and development.
