With 30 years of history and more than 3,000 members and supporters, Simply Living is one of the longest-serving and best-known local sustainability organizations in Central Ohio. Our mission is to provide learning opportunities that promote sustainability, environmental justice, and our local economy. We were founded in 1992 after an Earth Day gathering of 20,000 people, and we have been providing community education on sustainability in Central Ohio ever since.
Simply Living is seeking students for our year-round Sustainability Internship. We will accept interns during winter, spring, summer, and fall quarters or semesters. Our internships are currently unpaid, but we are happy to work with colleges and universities to arrange for course credit and letters of recommendation.
Our internships provide a hands-on opportunity to gain a greater understanding of how to apply sustainability concepts on the local level. An intern may be doing a wide range of tasks such as gathering and analyzing information, organizing events, connecting with business partners, writing blog posts and newsletter articles, engaging with volunteers, and more.
We especially seek interns who are interested in sustainability and community education, and who have good communication, writing, and/or technical skills. Major fields of study could include environment and natural resources, communications, public administration, arts, sciences, social sciences, humanities, business, and more.
Job Activities and Scope: Interns will support all aspects of Simply Living’s work, which seeks to provide community education for a sustainable world. Job activities may include conducting research and writing, assisting in outreach efforts, organizing program activities and events, preparing educational materials, working with business partners, providing administrative support, and contributing to program blogs and social media.
