Active Transportation Project

Have you ever thought, "wouldn't it be great if I didn't have to rely on my car to get around town?" Simply Living's Active Transportation Project lets you know: There are other ways to get around! Helping you see the possibilities, we offer ways to get from here to there with a minimum impact on the environment. We use our presentation, “Walk, Bus, Bike: Routes to a Better Society” and action groups to help you work towards using alternative transportation. The tools for change are here now. We do not have to wait for the next great technology. We need to change the way we think about our transportation priorities. Besides, it's fun and creates the feeling of living in a vibrant, active eco-friendly community.

Walk, Bus, Bike: Routes to a Better Society

This presentation demonstrates it is possible to reduce reliance on the automobile in central Ohio. The resources and opportunities exist to move around the community by walking, using public transit and riding a bicycle. This presentation encourages the use of other modes of transportation in order to transform, not end, your relationship to the car. Through this workshop Simply Living’s Active Transportation Project (ATP) offers fundamental approaches to help individuals and groups become more active in personal, political and infrastructure change. If you already use modes of transportation other than a car, this presentation provides practical ways to increase your integration of these other modes into your life. If you rarely or never use modes other than a car, you will become connected to the personal value inherent in walking, riding a bicycle and using public transportation, and to the benefits of living in healthier communities where mobility options abound. This approximately 90-minute presentation is available to large and small groups and is ideal for churches, community and neighborhood organizations, business and professional associations and others within the community.
