Introductory Workshop on Localization

localization-for-people-earthThis is the introductory class in a new series that explores emerging local alternatives to the global corporate consumer culture. The first class will include a 19-minute version of the film, Economics of Happiness, followed by a presentation and discussion of the key concepts of corporate globalization and bottom-up challenges from the local food movement, energy democracy, and sustainable economic models. Additional classes will explore how to engage and participate in these alternatives in central Ohio: Monday, November 7 (Local Foods), Monday, December 5 (Energy Democracy), and Monday January 9 (New Economy). The classes are offered by Simply Living’s “Sustainable U” initiative and sponsored by SL’s Transition Central Ohio group. Instructors are Chuck Lynd Chuck.Lynd@gmail.com and Mac Crawford Crawford.9@osu.edu
